Playstation 3 is said to be 600 euro!

I couldnt believe my ears when I heard that the price of the playstation 3 was going to be around the estemated amount of 600 euro. If you are from america like I am, 600 euro translates almost into $700 USD. Does anybody else see this as a problem. Not for the consumer as much as it is for these last next gen consoles comming out. The market as it stands now is in microsofts favor. With as many as 800,000 360s sold already in consoles alone, microsoft is still preparing for another go when this summer comes around and next holiday season with possibly only the ps3 to compete against with its price at 600 euro or roughly 700 dollars without games. By that time guess what the 360 could do? You guessed right give out discounts and luanch their much anticipated games to push the system even harder.
People still forget that games such as halo 3 and gears of war are said to be what might push the xbox 360 into the lead indefinatley. If you look at the numbers just halo 2 alone sold over 8,500 copies at one store in 11 minutes and had a pre-sold list of 1.5 million. Halo 2 was so big that even some local grocerie stores had been taking orders. The numbers go on and on on this one game. And lets not even talk about final fantasy and its compatibility with the xbox 360. You can read up some more cool facts about halo 2 here at cnn.com just search for halo 2 at cnn.com.
As for the nintindo, who knows what they plan to do... What I just caught wind of was that nintindo is planning on taking it's revolution and pricing it right under $120 bucks. Sounds similar to when it launched it first nintindo right? But what relevence will nintindo have if they keep pushing kiddy games to the masses. I will talk more about marketing strategy and some bad moves in which nintindo has applied themselves. You can read it at www.johnmarshnotes.blogspot.com.

Xbox 360

The XBOX 360 has so many new features as opposed to the older version. Some features that really stand out are the wireless remotes, the 20gb hard drive and the aesthetically pleasing exterior casing.

Firstly the XBOX 360 is available in a choice of silver or black. Both are very appealing and it is a matter of personal choice which one the consumer wants to choose. Additionally you can remove nearly all the plates from the exterior casing to replace with whatever color you want.

The wireless remotes are a blessing. No more tangled remote wires or having to sit close to the console just to be able to play the many wonderful games.

The 20gb hard drive is more than ample to store multimedia such as videos and music. The hard drive is also upgradeable leaving the option to upgrade later down the track but this won?t be necessary. Just to give you an idea of how much 20gb can hold, it can store either 5 full length dvd movies or upwards of 6000 mp3 songs.

Below the visually appealing exterior lies a lot of processing power. The XBOX 360 has 3 3.2GHz processor. Standard personal computers have just the one processor. Imagine 3 times the processing power of a well decked out personal computer and you?ll understand what kind of power the XBOX 360 has.

To match the processing power the XBOX 360 has a custom ATI graphics processor. The ATI graphics processor has a whopping 512mb of RAM and runs at a speed of 500MHz. This is enough to make light work of any high end game.

Besides the major feature of the XBOX 360 that I?ve listed above, it also comes with many additional accessories such as the wireless headset and so forth. The XBOX 360 is a great innovation in the world of gaming and will continue to increase in popularity making it a formidable opponent to sony?s playstation 3.

History of Final Fantasy XI

Posted by:Editor
Date Posted: 3/10/2006

The Final Fantasy series is a superb set of games that have become an important part of video game history. Final Fantasy XI is an especially strong title. It is a terrific modern update on the series, advancing it and taking it into exciting new territory.

Final Fantasy XI is an outstanding entry in a series that is nearly twenty years old. The Final Fantasy series was created by the Japanese company Square Co. in 1987. At the time Square were in a difficult position, as they had focused on making games for the Nintendo Famicom Disk System and this format had become unpopular. The company were eager for success and saw great potential in the role-playing genre. Final Fantasy was their attempt to make a new kind of role-playing title.

Final Fantasy came out in Japan at the end of 1987. It was excellent, offering a fresh and original role-playing experience. Final Fantasy?s strength was that it had a strong narrative that ran throughout the game. This made it very compelling and helped it to capture people?s interest. It was an enormous success and launched what would become a hugely popular franchise. It would lead to Final Fantasy XI and beyond.

When Square made Final Fantasy, they looked at the role-playing genre and explored the possibilities of what it could do. Final Fantasy was innovative, and this sense of invention would become a major element of the series, continuing all the way through to Final Fantasy XI. The first sequel, Final Fantasy II, was equally creative, surprising people by coming up with a completely new plot and characters.

The Final Fantasy series flourished and a number of dazzling games followed. Final Fantasy IV was a gripping, brilliant game and became the second title in the series to be released in North America. Final Fantasy VI had an enthralling story that gave it serious emotion and depth. Final Fantasy X used voice acting and beautiful three-dimensional visuals to create its own game world. These were all strong titles and laid the way beautifully for Final Fantasy XI.

Final Fantasy XI has continued the sense of innovation that is expected of this series. A highly ambitious game, it saw the franchise move into the world of online gaming. Final Fantasy XI is a massively multi-player online role-playing game. It is also unique as it is playable on both consoles and PCs, all of which connect to the same game servers. This has made it the first cross-platform title of its kind.

There was great curiosity about Final Fantasy XI before its release in 2002. Images and previews of the game captured people?s attention. A special bonus disk was included with the release of Final Fantasy X, containing a trailer for the game. Its creator Square Enix also held beta tests for the game to gather players? feedback and improve it. This allowed them to handle any concerns that people had and fine-tune it.

Final Fantasy XI was launched in Japan on May 16 2002 for the Sony PlayStation 2. The PC release came on November 5th. It had its PC release in North America on October 28 2003, with the European release following in September 2004. The initial Japanese launch was a complicated affair, as the game required a hard drive for the PlayStation 2 console and stocks of these were limited at first. Square Enix responded well to any issues that developed, and also released a game patch to enhance it.

Square Enix adopted an interesting approach to the game, developing it and reworking it even after it had been released. The company has revised it since its launch and made it even better, adding in new areas and new content. This has enriched the Final Fantasy XI experience. There have been two expansions, Rise of the Zilart and Chains of Promathia, to complement the game. A third expansion, Treasures of Aht Urhgan, is planned for spring 2006.

Final Fantasy XI has established itself as a major presence in online gaming. It sold well, building up more than 500,000 subscribers by January 7 2004. There were almost a million game characters active within this time period. It was well received, enjoying many positive reviews from the game press. It was crucial in building up Square Enix?s PlayOnline service and more than fulfilled their hopes for the title.

Final Fantasy XI is a truly great game. It has combined the creativity and innovation that is the hallmark of Final Fantasy with a state of the art online gaming format. It is an amazing experience and has taken the series in a new direction. It will continue entertaining people for a long time to come.

Have You Heard? Families That Play Together Stay Together

By Sintilia Miecevole
Take a chance! When you tell the family that it's games night at your home, the kids might think you've come unhinged, but make it non-optional and make sure you make it fun! Take it from me, I've done it and it works. Everyone joins in either as a player or a spectator when we played games on XBox. The house is filled with laughter and cheering and it's nice to see everyone having a good time. Playing games is ageless and there is virtually no generation gap.

Plan for one night a week where everyone will be home. If you don't have one night where everyone will be there, you need to juggle things around so you have at the very least one night where the entire family is home.

Then there's board games to consider. You could play everything from Monopoly to Snakes and Ladders depending upon the ages of the children. You could set up themes to play a game for example a Hawaiian theme. Have pineapples and things like that, everyone wears leis. Each person could talk about what they know or as questions about Hawaii. Use your imagination. You know what your family likes.

The game itself doesn't have to relate to the theme; just the atmosphere and conversation. You could be playing Yatzee, Life, Clue, Sorry, Snakes and Ladders, Don't Spill the Beans or Uno. It doesn't matter which game you're playing. You could incorporate your theme into various intervals throughout the game. Each time someone lands on a red square everyone must take a bite of pineapple. Spin a ten and all must eat a macadamia nut! If you select the Go to Jail card, it's your turn to do the Hula dance. Get the idea?

At the end of each game night, discuss next week's theme. Family members can take turns choosing the theme and the accompanying snacks and décor. If it's too much for one person to coordinate or if children are younger, these tasks can be delegated. Your three year old can decide she wants a clown theme complete with balloons and everyone will wear clown make-up. Your 6th grader made opt for an art theme and paint or draw the decorations.

If you want to keep it simple without the extras, that's okay too. You're sure to be a hit with games and their favorite snacks. Everyone will want to come back again and again.

This should be an inexpensive night. You can pick up new games at thrift stores and garage sales for $1.00. Most decorations you may already have around the house or can be picked up at the same places you're getting second hand games or even the dollar store.

Make it fun. Your children won't remember and thank you for all the hours you put in a work, but they will always cherish the family time together. The family that plays together stays together. Have fun!

When will we see the next gen ps3 and nintindo revolution?

There has been much speculation concerning the realese dates of the two consoles but it is pretty much agreed apon that the ps3 will not let the xbox 360 go another holiday season completly unchallenged! So you can for sure be expecting to see the ps3 out before next holiday season.
